About Halftone
Halftone Productions draws its name from the smallest musical interval used in Western tonal music, as we’re all about the details and nuances that differentiate great records from good ones.
We’re analog, not digital. Tube, not solid state. For us, a record is about a group of musicians connecting to realize a musical vision, not doing crazy edits and overdubs to achieve ‘perfection’. Records should mimic life, imperfections and all.
And we love making quality records. When you work with Halftone, you are working with a group of professionals who spend each and every day working on records.

A Production Company in the Truest Sense
We are not a recording studio. We work in some good ones every day, and have far too much respect for quality studios to work just anywhere (or to pretend to be a ‘studio’ in our homes).
We all have home studios that we use for editing and certain overdubs, but our work is mostly done in professional recording studios. Great music was meant to be recorded in great sounding rooms, not in noisy basements.
Specialized Team Members
Halftone believes that your project should be as good as it can be, and often that means putting as many ears and people on your project as possible.
Your music should be produced by a producer. It should be mixed by a mixing engineer. It should be mastered by a mastering engineer. This sounds really simple, but you’d be surprised at how many companies just end up being one person who tries to be a jack of all trades and is actually a master of none.
